Job Summary
The payroll and leave benefit specialist processes payroll, receives employee payroll changes, and provides routine human resources information to one or more work units in order to ensure timely and accurate payroll transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and assists with work unit operational policy development. Assists with analysis and determinations related to payroll and benefits deduction adjustments with a specialty in international payroll and taxation. Reviews applications and requests for changes for compliance and completeness, and enters changes into the appropriate information systems in order to ensure timely and accurate payroll and benefit information processing. Provides accurate, timely, and comprehensive benefit information and counseling to employees to assist audiences in understanding benefits eligibility, selection, and enrollment rules. Interprets and administers the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and leave of absence programs for a specified work unit to support compliant administration and timely return-to-work. This position is customer service driven and the individual must have the ability to effectively promote a positive patient and family experience, exhibit empathy, engage in compassionate collections, and demonstrate strong communication skills. This person has responsibility to CFO. Other duties as assigned.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepares, organizes, disseminates, and processes payroll and benefit resources, communications, and materials for one or more work units through various mediums under general supervision
- Prepares and audits standard work unit payrolls, and completes payroll transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
- Receives, responds to, and resolves employee payroll and benefit questions and problems
- Counsels new, existing, and terminating employees on payroll and benefit options, timelines, taxes, and deductions
- Assists employees with the completion of benefit enrollments, changes, and maintenance of employee records according to established policies and procedures
- Represents unit/program at payroll workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions

- Prepares and audits international payroll and tax reports and completes payroll transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipates deadlines
- Receives, responds to, and resolves highly complex employee payroll and tax questions and problems
- Counsels new, existing, and terminating employees on payroll options, international tax laws, timelines, taxes and deductions
- Serves as a payroll and tax subject matter expert; represents the institution, contributes to and facilitates payroll workshops, informational meetings and training sessions as needed
- Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of institutional policies and procedures in alignment with laws and regulations
- Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Accounting and Human Resources policies and procedures as it related to payroll, benefits and leave administration according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
- Serves as a subject matter expert and main point of contact for staff regarding leave of absences and affiliated programs
- Receives and responds to individual requests and inquiries according to established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
- Documents, audits, and requests required documentation for eligibility or needed updates as required by established policies and procedures
- Tracks leave of absences and completes lifecycle transactions in various mediums as required by established policies, regulations, and laws
- Contributes to the development of strategies for reasonable accommodations
Job Requirements
Education
Minimum- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred- Associate degree in Business, Finance. Health Information Management Related Field
Work Experience
Minimum- One year of experience in a customer service-related field
Preferred-one year of experience in a healthcare, call center, business, financial or insurance related field.
