POSITION PURPOSE: The Therapist is responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the attending physician, Medical Director, Executive Director, and Clinical Director. He/she will provide group therapy as ordered by the Clinical Director. Collaborates with the Treatment Team in the formulation of the Master Treatment Plan and assists in coordinating discharge planning. POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION:
Preferred Graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or health-related field.
SUD Maine Only:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED if a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and/or a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with clear and active license EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 2 years' experience the behavioral health field LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: If licensed, and do not currently have CAQH or NPI, obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date. Mental Health
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Substance Use
CRSS certification and above (preferred or willing/able to obtain). CAC, CAP, LMHC, LCSW or Registered Intern with active clear license or certification in good standing. Experience may
substitute except where license or certification is required by licensing standards. New Hampshire Requirement:
Substance Use Master's degree (preferred) or a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Substance Use or health-related field. LCMHC, MLADC, LADC, LICSW, LMFT certification/licensure desired but not required. Mental Health Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Maine Requirement:
Substance Use 1. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or a(n): a. Registered Nurse certified as a Psychiatric Nurse, b. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with appropriate specialization certification, c. Medical Doctor (M.D.), d. Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), e. Licensed Clinical Psychologist, f. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), g. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or a h. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). 2. Any individual with a credential listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may be employed as clinical staff in a substance use disorder program only when that individual has completed one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse treatment and a minimum of sixty (60) hours of alcohol and drug education within the last five (5) years. 3. Education accepted by the Department includes, but is not limited to, training and continuing education approved by the Maine State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, 02-384 CMR Chapters 1-9. 4. Any of the credentials listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may forego additional education hours and experience if they possess a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) credential. Mental Health Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) New Jersey Requirement:
Substance Use Each substance abuse counselor shall be either an LCADC or CADC or another licensed health professional doing work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within their scope of practice. I. A CADC must work under the supervision of an LCADC, or another New Jersey licensed clinical professional designated as a qualified clinical supervisor per N.J.A.C. 13:34C-6.2. ii. A CADC cannot diagnose substance abuse. 2.Substance abuse counseling staff without an LCADC or CADC status or who do not possess another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within their scope of practice shall function as alcohol and drug counselor-interns or credential-interns and shall: I. Be enrolled in a course of study leading to a CADC or LCADC, or another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice, without regard to changes in N.J.A.C. 10:161A-1.9 employment, with progress towards certification or licensing on file, reviewed by the facility at least semi-annually and documented; and ii. Be trained, evaluated and receive continuing formal clinical supervision by the director of substance abuse counseling or designee, pursuant to the clinical supervision rules of the State health professional licensing board for the course of study in which they are enrolled:
(1) The State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners for licensed marriage and family therapists.
(2) The State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners' Professional Counselor Examiners Committee for licensed professional counselors and licensed associate counselors.
(3) The State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee for LCADCs and CADCs.
(4) The State Board of Psychological Examiners for licensed psychologists; and
(5) The State Board of Social Work Examiners for licensed clinical social workers and licensed social workers.
(b) Counseling staff employed in a residential substance use disorders treatment facility after July 15, 2013, shall have three years from the date of employment to become certified as an LCADC or CADC, or another clinical licensed professional that includes the work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice.
(c) Only staff possessing the appropriate clinical background and educational qualifications from the appropriate clinical discipline may provide the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders.

- Actively participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
- Share pertinent information with the team as obtained from the client's family, or others as indicated throughout the program.
- Attend daily and weekly staff meetings according to the schedule.
- Evaluate the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu
- Facilitate group therapy.
- Perform individual therapy with client/family.
- Document the assessment of client progress/regress and interventions provided in the medical record, on an ongoing basis.
- Recognize, respond to and assist in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention.
- Respond and assist in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff and physicians.
- Provide clients with education and instruction on Advance Directives.
- Attend and participate in monthly Program Staff meetings as scheduled.
- Adhere to policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC's privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company's policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
- Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC's policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
- Contract with payors upon request, ensuring all necessary documentation and requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain NPI and CAQH profiles, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Review, approve, and countersign all required clinical documentation in compliance with established timelines
- Ability to recognize signs of withdrawal
- Client observation and monitoring skills/ procedures
- Knowledge of pregnancy related complications
- Knowledge of complications requiring transfers
- Knowledge of appropriate interventions
- Knowledge of frequently used medications including purpose, precautions, and side effects
