Head of Procurement

Job PurposeAccountable for overseeing all aspects of procurement inventory, supplier negotiations, team management (recruitment, development, mentoring, and guidance), and attaining company objectives set by the leadership team. Ensures profitability by implementing effective vendor strategies and logistics coordination while creating and implementing annual promotional plans. Manages the product mix to meet customer needs while maximizing local and corporate profits. Leads significant product evaluations and demonstrations with key clients to maintain current business and acquire new customers.This role is a key member of the executive team, reporting to the President, and supervises procurement processes, key performance indicators, financial management, sales assistance, and compliance with safety protocols and legal regulations.Primary DutiesLeadership: Oversee, develop, mentor, and assess team members, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, performance evaluations, and efficient issue resolution.Stock & Supplier Oversight: Manage optimal stock levels to improve financial results and cash flow. Negotiate prices and agreements with vendors, manage private inventory disbursements, and maintain high service levels.Client & Supplier Relations: Act as the main contact for clients and vendors, guaranteeing timely, accurate, and professional communication while upholding high service standards.Process Enhancement: Establish and enhance team procedures to boost operational effectiveness and output based on industry knowledge.Strategic Supervision: Manage additional operational areas, like internal freight logistics control and specialized product teams, as assigned.Marketing & Promotions Management: Lead all marketing activities, including exhibitions, promotional campaigns, digital initiatives, sales promos, product introductions, and targeted brochures. Maximize vendor financial contributions.Growth Strategy & Sales Assistance: Conduct strategic bid assessments for potential and current major accounts. Collaborate across departments with sales experts, category managers, culinary experts, and brand development leads to drive private-label or exclusive product line growth.Carry out other relevant tasks as required.
