Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides quality nursing care to patients within a Long Term Care (LTC) facility, adhering to scope of practice and respecting patient rights and dignity. This role involves collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver effective patient care. Duties may vary based on the LTC area assigned. New graduates are accepted, with preference given to candidates with experience in hospital or long-term care settings. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in the LTC facility consistent with LPN scope of practice.
• Assist in patient assessments and communicate effectively with physicians and medical staff.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and within scope.
• Utilize medical equipment such as Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, and Pulse Oximetry.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to patient care.
• Participate in special committees and represent the nursing department professionally.
• Maintain competencies and certifications required for the position.

• Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN school.
• Licensed in good standing as an LPN in the State of Alaska.
• Current CPR certification (BCLS) and BLS certification.
• IV certification course completion.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpretation of graphs.

• One year of experience in hospital or long-term care settings preferred but not required.
• Experience working with diverse cultural populations.

• Must be able to pass and maintain competencies for the position.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
• Comfortable working in a Long Term Care environment.

• Schedules and shifts may vary depending on LTC facility needs and assignments.
• May include day, evening, or night shifts as assigned.
