Senior Consultant (Public Sector)

We value intensity and excellence, and we build high‑impact solutions with care and quality. Responsibilities We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Customer Success team. In this role you will engage with our customers post‑sales to develop software solutions on the Appian platform, guiding them through the entire project life‑cycle: defining, designing, developing, and deploying custom software and AI solutions. You will work in an agile environment to understand client business processes and technical needs, launch new relational data models in production, and develop APIs that integrate with multiple systems. You will brainstorm AI use cases and implement Appian’s AI tools by applying retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and generative models, transforming how customers run their organizations. Throughout the cycle you will collaborate with client technical teams and business users, and drive adoption by empowering clients to build process applications independently. Qualifications Passion for mentoring and developing others, with experience leading small post‑sale teams. Ability to work with clients to define business processes and gather functional and technical requirements. Excellent communication, continuous learning, and a curiosity to ask “why” to solve the right problems. Experience on cross‑functional teams building products using agile methodologies. Basic understanding of object‑oriented programming, relational databases, data modeling, and SQL. Knowledge of test‑driven development, automated test suites, API integrations (REST, SOAP, JDBC), and familiarity with AWS, AI, analytics, ML, Google Cloud, application integration, database, developer tools, governance, and Elastic Containers. U.S. citizenship (public‑sector roles require citizenship). 3+ years of hands‑on software development or technical consulting. B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field. Willingness to travel 10% or less annually. The position is eligible for a government clearance differential and may include a discretionary bonus.
