Computed Tomography Technologist

This position assists radiologists and other physicians by providing high quality computerized tomographic and radiographic images required for patient diagnosis and treatment. Ensures minimal radiation exposure to patients and themselves while performing their duties. Provides general care to patients while in the department. Performs computed tomography studies according to established protocols. Differentiates between normal and abnormal anatomy and tailors exams based on patient history, protocols, and radiologist instructions. Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures, adhering to departmental protocols and institutional guidelines. Monitors patients' physical and mental conditions throughout procedures. Records all relevant patient data accurately. Provides radiation protection for patients and themselves, utilizing gonadal shielding and collimation when applicable. Documents acknowledgment of scheduling as directed. Performs nursing duties such as assisting radiologists during sterile procedures, using sterile techniques, obtaining vital signs, collecting pertinent clinical history, and performing venous puncture. Documents all important data accurately. Identifies allergic reactions or other urgent medical conditions and alerts the radiologist for proper treatment.
