TravelNurseSource is working with United Health Care Staffing, Inc. to find a qualified PCU / Stepdown RN in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51501!

Contract Type:  Travel Contract

Shift Type:  Night shifts, 12 hours (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend, 1 major and 1 minor holiday, cyclic scheduling

Hours per Week:  36

Candidate Pay Rate:  $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to stepdown patients with conditions like heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate intravenous drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro according to protocols
• Interpret telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with charge nurse and interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced unit with high admission and discharge volume
• Float to ICU as needed if qualified and experienced
• Mentor and support patient care techs and new team members

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/PCU experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry
• Valid driver's license (required at submittal for radius check)
• Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and patient-oriented approach

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Skill in managing cardiac drips and monitoring patients on CPAP
• Strong critical thinking and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Flexibility to adapt to floating requirements
