Lead Building Engineer
Pay: $35.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Building Engineer to oversee daily facility maintenance operations while providing leadership and direction to maintenance personnel. This role combines hands-on technical work with responsibility for coordinating maintenance activities, supporting contractors, and ensuring efficient operation of building systems.
Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities and work assignments.
• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Support facility operations, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Assist with work order prioritization and completion.
• Support emergency response and critical facility operations.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports, and operational documentation.
• Provide guidance, training, and technical support to maintenance staff.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of building maintenance, facilities engineering, or commercial maintenance experience.
• Experience leading maintenance teams, vendors, or contractors.
• Strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in educational, healthcare, government, commercial, or institutional facilities preferred.
• Ability to prioritize work orders and manage multiple maintenance projects.
Preferred Certifications
• EPA Certification
• HVAC Certification
• NIULPE Certification
• DC or Maryland Operating Engineer License
• Building Automation System (BAS/BMS) experience
