We value team building, and our staff oftimes engages in after work activities in order to build relationships and play an essential role in our community.Job BriefA Medical Assistant is essentially a technical assistant to the doctor or other clinicians. Duties include setting up the exam or procedure room in advance of a patient visit, with the proper supplies, instruments, and equipment. The Scribe will also take notes during the patient's visit, and assist with the charting and coding. Documentation will be using our EHR system, EPIC.As a Medical Assistant, you will partner with the doctors and other clinicians to provide a high level of efficient patient care, while always presenting a caring and professional experience for the patients.Essential FunctionsPrepare and assemble medical record documentation/charts for doctors and other cliniciansSet up the exam or procedure room in advance of a patient visit, with the proper supplies, instruments, and equipmentWith the doctor or other clinician during the patient visit, capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applicationsUpdate patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patientPrepare and send all documentation to doctor for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific proceduresMonitor the duration of basic lab results and screening proceduresAccompany the clinician into patient examination rooms in order to transcribe the patient's history, physical exam findings, consultations, labs, X-rays, and other evaluations, as stated by the provider, directly into the medical recordPrepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by the providerAssist with check-in, check-out, and follow-up procedures and documentationProvide advanced support to providers, including documenting phone calls, alerting the physician with labs/radiology reports are complete, getting and inserting emails and faxes, etc.Comply with all hospital, medical facility, and office policies, including those relating to HIPAAPerform other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assignedAll other duties and special projects, as assignedPosition RequirementsProfessional demeanorKnowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy a plusSkilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programsAbility to efficiently type using computer laptops or tablets.Must have a passion for medicine and a desire to growMust be adaptable and be willing to take constructive criticismAbility to multitask, prioritize, and work in fast-paced environmentAbility to move about and follow a healthcare provider for extended periods of timeAbility to read, write, comprehend through listening, and speak fluent EnglishSpanish is a big plus (conversationally fluent)Must have a high school diploma or equivalentAbility to operate a computer and/or laptop through proficient typing, clicking, and viewing a monitor for extended periodsMust have a computer or access to a computer for virtual/online trainingSkills and Abilities RequiredDetail-orientedTime management and task completion skillsTeam playerReporting skillsStrong organizational skillsRecord-keeping skillsMicrosoft Office, and other office softwareStrong typing skills and administrative writing skillsAbility to maintain strict confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skills
