Class A CDL Truck Driver

Phifer Incorporated has an opening in their Tuscaloosa facility for a Long Haul Truck Driver. This position is responsible for transportingPhifer products in a safe and professional manner to customers cross country and to Canada.Phifer strives to provide a good work/life balance for their long haul drivers. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a Class A CommercialDriver's License Must possess a safe driving record. Must pass Department of Transportation physical examination. Must be at least 25 years of age. Must pass driving test. Must have or be able to acquire apassport Negative DOT pre-employment drug test. Must complete Employer Accident and drug/alcohol testing history. Driving Record showing medical certification status ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of two years'cross country experience in driving a diesel tractor with trailer. Must have 2-3 years of experience operating a Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Prefer material handling equipment experience. Must be able to present an acceptable CSA score. Must have an acceptable pre-employment screening program PSP report. ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION: Prefer high school diploma or GED Assess on the TABE in reading and mathematics at an 8th grade equivalency or higher Or have appropriate score based on WorkKeys Profile BENEFITS: Pay:.759per mile Meals: .103per mile Layover Pay Paid Vacation and Holidays 401K Contribution Competitive Health Care Premiums On-site Health Care Clinic On-site Workout Facility ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Will drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Will maneuver truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed Will drive truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to individual state regulations Will maintain driver log according to I.C.C. regulations via electronic logs Will inspect truck before, during, and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition Will obtain shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paper work to shipping office Will manually load or unload or assist in manually loading and unloading of truck Will perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking on a daily basis oil, water, gasoline or diesel fuel, and air in tires. Will report any maintenance malfunctions to supervisor. Will chock rear wheels of truck or trailer before any unloading takes place Will secure loads by using straps or other securement devices NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: May use hand truck to rearrange loads in shipping department area May sweep out truck body May switch empty/full trailers in shipping yard for optimum loading patterns May be assigned other department duties as determined by management Phifer Incorporatedis an Equal Opportunity Employer.
