Maintenance Lead - 3rd shift

The Maintenance Team Lead position is an hourly role at OPW Retail Fueling, responsible for supervising maintenance technicians and ensuring production equipment operates efficiently with minimal downtime. Location & Compensation Location: Smithfield, NC Pay Rate: $38.00 Hourly Job Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities Team Leadership Lead and support maintenance technicians. Provide hands‑on guidance for complex repairs and troubleshooting. Train team members on equipment, safety procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Equipment & Machinery Maintenance Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment. Production Support Work closely with production supervisors to prioritize maintenance needs. Ensure equipment reliability to meet production targets and deadlines. Participate in root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures. Safety & Compliance Enforce workplace safety standards and OSHA regulations. Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. Maintenance Planning & Systems Use CMMS to track work orders. Plan maintenance schedules to reduce disruption to production. Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability. Implement lean manufacturing and preventive maintenance strategies. Track and improve KPIs such as uptime, MTTR, and MTBF. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical degree preferred). 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience. 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Knowledge of industrial machinery and automation PLC systems (basic troubleshooting). Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems expertise. No history of repeated or severe disciplinary action for violation of OPW company policy. Completion of all required training programs and a 30-60-90 day review program. Preferred Qualifications Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical. Experience with PLC programming. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience. OSHA 10 or 30 certification. Work Environment Fast‑paced manufacturing floor. Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Requires standing, lifting, climbing, and use of PPE. May require rotating shifts, overtime, or on‑call availability. Key Competencies Strong leadership and decision‑making. Advanced troubleshooting and technical expertise. Time management in high‑pressure situations. Effective communication between maintenance and production teams. Focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
