Prineville, United States | Posted on 09/18/2026 Job Description Position Summary The Shop Technician supports Samson Sky prototype vehicledevelopment by participating in a respectful and collaborative workplace;maintaining a safe, clean, orderly, and operational shop; caring for tools,equipment, and inventory; troubleshooting shop and prototype systems; andassisting engineering, fabrication, assembly, and R&D testing activities.The position requires a can-do mindset, adaptability, accurate documentation,practical problem solving, and consistent attention to safety, cleanliness, accuracy,and work quality. Key Responsibilities Participate in a culture of respect for others and promotea collaborative environment. Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe shop in accordancewith OSHA and company safety standards. Embrace changing priorities and approach shop and prototypeneeds with a can-do, solutions-focused mindset. Manage shop tools, consumables, and inventory; identifyreplenishment needs and support procurement or vendor coordination. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and basicelectrical systems associated with shop equipment and prototype work. Set up, operate as authorized, and maintain CNC machines,welders, lifts, and general fabrication tools. Support R&D operations, including test setup, teardown,equipment staging, and data collection assistance. Work with engineering and fabrication teams to build, test,evaluate, and refine vehicle systems. Assist with prototype assembly, modification, fabrication,and integration of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Complete assigned prototype-build tasks in accordance withthe project plan, drawings, instructions, and safety requirements. Maintain accurate prototype-build notes, equipment logs,and records of completed work. Valuable Final Product Well-documented and accurate prototype assembly,fabrication, and testing work completed. Position Statistics Percentage of shop “clean/up time” compared with“dirty/down time.” Percentage of build tasks completed on time measuredagainst the project plan. Completion and accuracy of required build notes and shop records. Physical and Work Environment Requirements This is a hands-on position in an R&D, fabrication, vehicle build,shop, and facility maintenance environment. The employee must be able toperform physical work, lift reasonable weight, climb ladders, work at heightswhen required, safely use appropriate personal protective equipment and tools,and communicate on a technical level. Duties and priorities may change as shop,prototype, facility, and operational needs evolve. Requirements Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in mechanical repair, shop support,vehicle assembly, fabrication, or a related hands-on role. Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment,and applicable safety practices. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals,blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Ability to perform physical work, lift reasonable weight,climb ladders, and work comfortably at heights when required. Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independentlyor collaboratively as priorities evolve. Computer literacy, valid driver’s license, and reliabletransportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting facilities in aerospace, automotive,manufacturing, fabrication, prototype, or R&D environments. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, buildingelectrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and general building systems. Experience performing facility inspections and identifying safety, maintenance, cleanliness, and operational deficiencies. Experience with preventive maintenance programs, workorders, service histories, inspection records, and equipment logs. Experience coordinating facility access and supportingqualified vendors or service providers. Experience supporting facility layout changes, equipmentinstallation, workspace modifications, or infrastructure improvements.
