The Autism Treatment Center - Rehabilitation Agency is seeking an energetic part-time Occupational Therapist to join our team for our outpatient clinic!

The job is a full-time, year-round position, and the salary is based on experience.

Working hours will fall within the range of 7:30 am 6 pm Monday Thursday. The administrator will assign the case load and hours.

FLSA: Exempt. Must be flexible according to the needs of the Program.

The Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive diagnostic services to patients referred for a possible dysfunction in the areas of fine motor development, orthopedic abnormality, or neurological deficits. With physician referral and approval, treatment plans are implemented to address deficits identified in any or all of these areas. Goals are set to move the individual toward his or her maximum level of independence and/or function.

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the Occupational Therapist. Other duties may be performed as permitted by Texas laws and regulations adopted by the state agencies that are not mentioned here. Specific functions may, from time to time, change. These functions include:

• Performs comprehensive evaluations of referred clients using standardized testing tools and/or other accepted assessment methods. Documents results in a format approved by the facility.
• Provides occupational therapy for all types of pediatric dysfunctions.
• Monitor equipment to be sure it is safe before using it with a patient.
• Maintain the well-being and safety of the patient during treatment.
• Completes all documentation that is required for each patient (daily notes, progress notes, re-evaluations, initial evaluations, discharge) in a timely manner.
• Communicates to physicians, appropriate members of staff, patient, and family members regarding patient needs and progress, either by documentation or, if necessary, direct contact.
• Supplies billing information to the appropriate staff in a proper and timely manner for all patient procedures.
• Participates in and attends rehabilitation team conferences and clinic staff meetings as scheduled.
• Provides supervision for and co-signs documentation for staff Occupational Therapist Assistants and/or Clinical Fellowship candidates.
• Provide clinical supervision to any OT or COTA students completing clinical hours in the facility.
• Observes patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Request orders of needed supplies and equipment in a timely manner to avoid emergency ordering.
• Keeps informed of changes and innovations in the field through professional contacts, literature, and workshops.
• Continually pursue professional growth and act as a Resource for expertise in the field of Occupational Therapy.
• Assume personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and their families that will reinforce the therapy provided in the clinic.
• Provide education related to Speech Therapy to staff and the general public upon request.
• Either attends and actively participates or obtains an excused absence and arranges for makeup for all mandatory meetings and in-services.
• Suggests and develops new patient programs and ideas for treatment as appropriate.
• Demonstrate skills of effective time management.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal communication skills while maintaining standards of professional ethics.
• Perform other duties as delegated, required, or requested.
• Must be able to treat patients who exhibit challenging and aggressive behaviors.
• Must be able to recognize that the challenging behaviors are a mode of communication rather than an untreatable patient.
• Follow all ATC Policy & Procedures.
• Perform other duties as delegated, required, or requested.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Meets the education and experience requirements for a certified occupational therapist
• Holds a valid Occupational Therapist Certification in the State of Texas
• Valid Driver's License or State ID
• Competent to treat pediatrics and adolescents.
• CPR/First Aid certification (Adults, Children, Infants)
• Must be able to collaborate and work closely with other disciplines

Physical Requirements

• Capable of lifting, guarding, transferring, and maneuvering patients of all sizes and weights, utilizing assistance or special equipment as needed on a recurring basis and in a safe manner
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity to safely apply all necessary modalities and operate the equipment.
• Must be able to follow written procedures and verbal directives.
• Must have adequate hearing and speech to effectively direct and re-direct the therapy program.
