Growing together.As a Quality Engineer on the Optum Technology team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of software solutions that power health services nationwide. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional software engineering teams to design and execute test strategies, build robust test automation suites, and continuously improve software quality assurance processes. By utilizing modern testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, you will help deliver innovative healthcare technology that improves patient outcomes and operational efficiency.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for web applications, APIs, and microservicesCollaborate with software developers, system architects, and product owners to define acceptance criteria, test strategies, and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycleExecute manual and automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests to validate application performance and usabilityIdentify, log, track, and manage software defects to resolution using defect management and issue-tracking toolsIntegrate automated test suites into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable continuous testingAnalyze testing results, generate quality metrics, and report test coverage and risk assessments to technical and leadership stakeholdersParticipate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and architectural discussions to advocate for quality engineering best practicesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of software quality engineering or software development experience3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and quality engineering2+ years of hands-on test automation experience using tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or JUnit/TestNG2+ years of experience with API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI2+ years of experience writing SQL queries for data validation and database testing1+ years of experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environmentPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical fieldExperience integrating test automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab)Experience with performance, load, or security testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling)Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Background or familiarity with healthcare IT systems, HIPAA compliance, or health data standardsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
