Dental Assistant - PRN

UNHS is hiring a Part‑Time Dental Assistant. Location: Navajo Mountain, UT Wage: Depends on experience Responsibilities Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures. Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient. Exposes dental diagnostic x‑rays. Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts. Pours, trims, and polishes study casts, fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations. Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies. Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by Dentist. Cleans teeth. Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth. Performs X‑Rays for dental patients. Assists with any other tasks, projects, or duties that are reasonably related to UNHS and/or the employee’s employment with UNHS as requested by the employee’s supervisor or UNHS management. Possible exposure to radiation. Requirements Must be able to work well with others. Must have an excellent work history and customer service mindset. Will assist other staff when help is needed. Must have had formal Dental Assistant training (school) or sufficient prior on‑the‑job Dental Assisting experience. High School diploma. 2+ years Dental Assisting Experience (5 years preferred). Radiology Certified. Immunization and Vaccination Requirements MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) : Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers. Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival. Proof of up‑to‑date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x‑ray and treatment history. Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) . Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series. Influenza vaccine for the current year. COVID‑19 vaccine. Any other vaccinations as requested.
