Our culture is guided by core values that shape how we work every day: integrity, objectivity, relationships, lifelong learning, and professional excellence. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Tax Associate with experience serving agricultural and agribusiness clients to manage various tax compliance and advisory tasks, ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations, and providing exceptional client service. This position requires a strong understanding of tax concepts, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Why This Role Is Exciting Step Into Advanced Tax Work: Take ownership of more complex returns, research, and planning strategies that deepen your technical expertise and broaden your impact. What You’ll Do (See Full Job Description Here) Prepare and review more complex tax returns and workpapers, applying advanced technical knowledge to ensure accuracy, compliance, and advisory-focused outcomes. Analyze client information, research tax issues, and develop solutions that support planning strategies and maximize tax benefits. Communicate directly with clients and tax authorities, providing guidance, addressing inquiries, and maintaining strong professional relationships. Maintain thorough documentation and prepare supporting reports in alignment with firm standards and regulatory expectations. Collaborate with team members across engagements, contributing to workflow efficiencies while supporting and reviewing the work of junior associates and interns. Continue developing technical expertise through ongoing learning, training, and staying current with evolving tax laws and industry trends. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field. A master’s degree in public accounting is a plus. CPA certification or progress toward obtaining a CPA is highly desirable. 3 + years of experience in public accounting or a related field, with a focus on tax services. Highly proficient in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Familiarity with accounting software is required, and experience with UltraTax is preferred. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Experience serving clients in agriculture, agribusiness, or related industries is a plus. Adaptability and a commitment to flexibility in a constantly changing professional environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide precise and impactful feedback to clients and team members. Why Join ELO? Be part of a highly regarded firm with a strong presence across eastern South Dakota, operating from seven convenient office locations to serve clients and team members. Enjoy a competitive salary that aligns with both public and industry accounting standards. Benefit from our Annual Bonus Program, where every team member shares in the success of our firm. Opportunities for professional growth through training and development programs. Secure your future with our 401(k) retirement plan, featuring an impressive dollar-for-dollar match of up to 5%. Comprehensive benefits include group health coverage with generous employer contributions, ELO-paid life insurance at 2x your salary, and other valuable fringe benefits. Take advantage of 10 paid holidays annually, plus our Summer Fridays Program—a four-day workweek with 14 additional paid days off during the summer. Ready to Elevate Your Career?
