Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Britt, Iowa where more eggs are produced within a 100 mile radius than anywhere in the world. Small town living and friendly faces make Britt, Iowa a place to call home. Our location is an egg processing facility that varies from breaking, pasteurization, and dried egg. Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor oversees a team responsible for completing production and sanitation tasks. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing food products ensuring adherence to safety, quality, quantity specifications, and cost.

The Production Supervisor ensures compliance with all company and regulatory processes, including but not limited to Safety, Food Safety, Human Resources, and job-specific requirements. They work to continuously improve production and sanitation best practices through training, standards development, data analysis, escalations, and reporting. Key skills include people management, operational and sanitation knowledge, training ability, developing expectations, driving results with data, and follow-through.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Leads team members to support safety, food safety, operations, sanitation, and personnel development. Ensures a safe and healthy workplace.
• Keeps management informed about operational, quality, safety issues, employee concerns, and production cost control.
• Adheres to safe work practices, GMPs, and maintains product quality. Reports any conditions affecting food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management.
• Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
• Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on operations.
• Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation, and other personnel as necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety and warehouse services.
• Responsible for ingredient, packaging usage, and all other department costs.
• Encourages suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
• Participates on plant safety team.
• Ensures regulatory compliance.
• Cooperates with all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship always exists.
• Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
• Maintains consistent communications and participates in and leads meetings as required.
• Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develops self and team members' skill sets to continuously improve work standards and performance.
• Drives individual accountability and ownership of results. Fosters accountability for direct reports in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
• Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. timekeeping, downtime records, absentee records, etc.).
• Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Willing to work overtime or weekends when required.
• Minimal travel required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. 2- 3 years supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry.

Skills and abilities: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team building skills. Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little/no supervision. Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multi-functional tasks. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required. Bilingual is a plus. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in various formats. Ability to learn and utilize various technology systems.
