Senior Technical Business Analyst Data Governance

Senior Technical Business Analyst – Data Governance Contract Length: 12 months + potential extension
Location: Dallas, Texas – Hybrid (3-4 days onsite downtown Dallas ) **Only accepting LOCAL DFW candidates** This position does not support third-party submissions, subcontracting, or Corp-to-Corp (C2C) arrangements.
We are seeking a VERY Senior Technical Business Analyst to support data-driven projects across the organization. The ideal candidate will connect business stakeholders, data governance, and technical teams, driving clarity, documentation, and alignment throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires someone who can challenge ambiguous requirements, identify gaps, validate solutions, and escalate risks early while working closely with BAs, PMs, and Agile teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
• 5+ years of Technical Business Analyst experience in data-centric and Agile environments
• 4+ years working within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
• Strong hands-on SQL skills ( Oracle and SQL Server required; MongoDB or other NoSQL a plus )
• 4+ years of data analysis, profiling, and troubleshooting, including independent data validation
• Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools preferably Abinitio MDM
• Proven experience supporting Data Governance or Data Stewardship initiatives
• Experience with BRDs, TDDs, and Data Lineage documentation
• Experience documenting acceptance criteria, source-to-target mapping, transformation logic, and data ownership
• Experience maintaining requirements traceability from business requirements through technical design and testing
• Experience creating and maintaining process flows using Visio
• Proficiency with Agile tools, including JIRA and Confluence
• Some experience working in a regulated environment with audit and compliance requirements
• Strong meeting facilitation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive decisions
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior stakeholders
• Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative mindset

Key Responsibilities

• Lead requirements gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders for Data Management projects
• Translate business needs into clear technical requirements, BRDs, JIRA tickets, and TDDs
• Define acceptance criteria and maintain requirements traceability through design and testing
• Provide Technical Design Documents and ensure they align with approved business requirements
• Maintain Data Lineage documentation, including source-to-target mapping, transformation logic, and data ownership
• Serve as a primary liaison between business users and data management teams
• Facilitate requirements, design, and status meetings; track action items to completion
• Create, groom, and track JIRA epics, stories, and tasks while ensuring accurate status reporting
• Track delivery progress and proactively identify risks, scope changes, dependencies, and potential delays
• Validate that technical designs satisfy documented business requirements and identify gaps before delivery
• Support Data Governance and Stewardship, including data quality, lineage, and metadata
• Support audit and compliance requests through accurate requirements and lineage documentation
• Assist PMs with release coordination, stakeholder communications, and post-release validation
• Communicate status, risks, and blockers to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership
• Collaborate with other BAs and PMs while managing multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities
