Join Queens Community House as an HDML Specialist Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and community-minded HDML Specialist to support our Home Delivered Meals (HDM) program. As an HDML Specialist, you’ll do more than deliver meals—you’ll provide an important connection to older adults who rely on regular meal deliveries. Your daily interactions can help promote their health, safety, dignity, and independence. Position Details Position: HDML Specialist Status: Per Diem Pay: $19.00 per hour Schedule: Per diem, based on program needs Location: Queens, NY Benefits: Limited benefits available based on eligibility What You'll Do Assist with the preparation, packaging, and transportation of home-delivered meals. Use appropriate heating and cooling equipment to maintain food safety. Package hot and cold meals into designated containers for daily distribution. Deliver meals safely and efficiently to homebound clients. Maintain accurate temperature logs for hot, cold, and frozen meals. Follow assigned delivery routes and monitor delivery supplies. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and complete required inspections using GEOTAB. Collect and submit HDM program contributions to the supervisor. Follow NYC Aging/DFTA, Citymeals, and QCH policies and procedures. Follow kosher meal handling and delivery requirements when assigned to specialty routes. Report missed deliveries, client absences, and other delivery concerns promptly. Observe and report significant changes in a client's condition or well-being, including potential health or safety concerns. Report safety concerns at client residences, including potential security issues. Document client-reported absences such as hospitalizations, medical appointments, or vacations. Report vehicle maintenance or mechanical concerns immediately. Clean and sanitize vehicle compartments and related equipment daily. Support additional program responsibilities as assigned by HDM leadership. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record and no moving violations within the past 24 months. No convictions related to DUI or DWI. At least 3 years of driving experience in New York City. Knowledge of Queens roads, major thoroughfares, and New York State traffic laws. Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset. Ability to work respectfully and sensitively with older adults and diverse populations. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer applications. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to lift and carry 10–20 pounds. Preferred Previous office support or customer service experience. Bilingual Spanish/English skills.
