Job Title

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Reading production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Must be available for overtime.

Conveying materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.

Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

Assembling customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets or shelves, or conveying orders to packing station or shipping department.

Marking materials with identifying information. Opening bales, crates, and other containers.

Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed.

Weighing or counting items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Arranging stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.

Operating shipping labeling equipment and UPS machine. Preparing parcels for mailing. Compiling worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.

Completing requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.

Driving forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.

Safety requirements include wearing safety eye glasses and steel-toed shoes. Following proper lifting techniques. Participating in hazard communication training. Understanding emergency procedures.

Qualifications include:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing. Climbing or balancing. Stooping, kneeling or crouching. Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment includes being occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
