Preschool Teacher Assistant - TEMP

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a Temp   Preschool Teacher Assistant for its  Mount Carmel Guild Cares Preschool located in  Newark, NJ . Mount Carmel Guild Cares is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the nation's largest and most influential organization of early-childhood educators, dedicated to improving the quality of programs for young children.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• The Preschool Teacher Assistant assists the Preschool teacher with instructional and non-instructional activities necessary for the implementation of a functional class environment that enhances student learning and achievement.
• The teacher Assistant works in the classroom under the direction of the teacher.
• He or she works with students either in small group or individually, reinforces instruction and lessons taught by the teacher, enforces classroom rules, track attendance, prepares materials or equipment for lessons, and help supervise children.
• The Teacher assistant helps with children's records and assessments.
• He or she attends all parent conferences, meetings, trainings, and workshops scheduled by the Program Manager, Program Director, and school district, including daily and weekly meetings scheduled by the program for staff collaboration.
• The Teacher Assistant consistently demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, and appropriate role modeling.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree OR High school Diploma  AND one of the following: Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), or 60+ college credits.
