Key Responsibilities\n

  • Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including comprehensive interviews and standardized assessments, to determine the needs of each client.

  • Document each client's progress meticulously from the initial consultation through the course of treatment, utilizing electronic health record systems such as AVATAR.
  • \n
  • Develop and implement personalized intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups addressing their specific mental health concerns.
  • \n
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to foster interaction and healing.
  • \n
  • Regularly monitor and assess client progress against treatment goals, adjusting plans as necessary to promote optimal results.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and primary care physicians, to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
  • \n
  • Follow up with any clients who may be hospitalized, managing care transitions effectively.
  • \n
  • Identify and mitigate potential barriers that may hinder patient recovery, providing support to families and primary caregivers throughout the treatment process.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role provides services to a diverse population, with clients presenting varying mental health challenges including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related issues, and addiction-related behaviors. Our clients are both individuals and families seeking to improve their mental well-being through evidenced-based therapies and holistic approaches. We emphasize individualized care plans that respect each client's unique circumstances and experiences.

Qualifications\n

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

  • Current and valid licensure as a LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State.
  • \n
  • A passing score on the National Counselor Exam (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • \n
  • Strong proficiency with electronic health records, particularly the AVATAR system, to ensure accurate documentation of client interactions.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear and effective interaction with clients and colleagues.

Preferred Experience\n

  • A minimum of two years' experience working as a mental health counselor in an outpatient setting, demonstrating an understanding of a wide range of mental health issues and therapeutic interventions.

  • Experience working with individuals facing co-occurring disorders and knowledge of addiction recovery processes.

  • Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and integrative treatment methodologies.

  • A deep understanding of psychotropic medications and their effects, allowing for informed discussions with clients regarding their treatment.

Compensation and Benefits\n

We offer a competitive annual salary in the range of $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience.
