Job Description
Catering & Events Director
Are You a Natural-Born Cruise Director? We Want to Meet You!
Location: Green Valley Country Club | Fairfield, California
We're Looking for Someone Who Knows How to Bring the Party to Life!
You know that person who walks into a room and instantly makes everyone feel welcome? The one who remembers names, brings people together, thinks three steps ahead, and somehow makes even the most complicated event look effortless?
That's who we're looking for.
Green Valley Country Club is searching for a Catering & Events Director who is part hospitality professional, part creative visionary, part relationship builder, and yes, a little bit of a natural-born cruise director.
We're not looking for someone who simply books events, creates banquet event orders, and checks boxes. We're looking for someone who gets genuinely excited about creating experiences, building relationships, and making our members feel like they're part of something special.
Someone who can turn an ordinary Wednesday night into a can't-miss member experience. Someone who sees a beautiful outdoor space and immediately imagines what it could become. Someone who understands that the best events aren't necessarily the most expensive or elaborate. They're the ones people are still talking about weeks later.
If you're someone who naturally brings people together, has a contagious enthusiasm for hospitality, and takes tremendous pride in the details, we'd love to meet you.
A Little About Us
Nestled in the beautiful Green Valley area of Fairfield, California, Green Valley Country Club is a private, family-oriented country club with a rich history, a championship 18-hole golf course, and a membership that genuinely values community and connection.
We're fortunate to have a beautiful property, exceptional recreational amenities, and a strong tradition of hospitality. But what truly makes Green Valley special is our people.
Our members enjoy the Club because it's a place where friendships are formed, families grow up together, traditions are celebrated, and memories are made.
We're also a Club that believes in moving forward. We're investing in our facilities, elevating our food and beverage experiences, and finding new ways to make membership even more rewarding.
And that's where you come in.
The Opportunity
As our Catering & Events Director, you'll have the opportunity to put your personal stamp on the social experience at Green Valley Country Club.
You'll lead the sales, planning, coordination, and execution of everything from elegant weddings and private celebrations to golf tournaments, themed dinners, holiday traditions, and member social events.
But there's another piece to this position that's just as important.
We want someone who helps create the energy and excitement that makes people want to come to the Club.
That means getting to know our members, understanding what makes them tick, introducing fresh ideas, and finding creative ways to bring people together.
You'll work alongside our General Manager/COO, Food & Beverage Director, Executive Chef, and an experienced team that believes great hospitality is a team effort.
You'll also have an opportunity to grow our private event business, develop relationships throughout the community, and help position Green Valley as a premier destination for memorable celebrations.
What You'll Do
BE THE CLUB'S CHIEF MEMORY MAKER
- Dream up, plan, and execute events that make members excited to mark their calendars.
- Bring creativity and personality to member traditions, themed evenings, holiday celebrations, and signature Club events.
- Find opportunities to connect members of different ages, interests, and backgrounds through engaging experiences.
- Create unexpected personal touches that turn a great event into an unforgettable one.
- Help establish a social calendar that balances beloved traditions with fresh, exciting ideas.
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS THAT LAST
- Get to know our members beyond their membership numbers. Learn their names, families, interests, and what makes their experiences special.
- Be a visible, approachable, and enthusiastic presence around the Club.
- Build trust with clients throughout the planning process, from their first tour to the final toast.
- Anticipate needs, solve problems gracefully, and make every guest feel genuinely cared for.
GROW OUR CATERING & EVENTS BUSINESS
- Proactively develop new business opportunities for weddings, corporate events, milestone celebrations, and private gatherings.
- Showcase our beautiful facilities and create compelling proposals that turn inquiries into confirmed events.
- Build relationships with local businesses, wedding professionals, and community partners.
- Drive catering revenue while ensuring every event delivers exceptional value and quality.
- Take ownership of sales goals, pricing, contracts, and client follow-up.
MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN BEHIND THE SCENES
- Coordinate all aspects of event planning, including menus, timelines, room setups, staffing needs, and event logistics.
- Collaborate with culinary, food and beverage, golf, and other Club departments to deliver seamless experiences.
- Maintain accurate banquet event orders (BEOs), contracts, event budgets, and detailed planning documents.
- Lead event execution with a calm, organized, and solutions-focused approach.
- Ensure every event meets the Club's high standards of hospitality, presentation, and professionalism.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with the right experience, but just as importantly, the right personality, energy, and attitude.
You might be our ideal candidate if:
- You're a natural-born cruise director. You love entertaining, bringing people together, and making sure everyone is having a great time.
- You're a people person, through and through. Building relationships comes naturally to you, and you genuinely enjoy getting to know people.
- You're creative. You don't just repeat last year's event calendar. You're constantly thinking about how to make the next experience even better.
- You're a salesperson who doesn't feel like a salesperson. You build trust, understand what people want, and know how to turn great relationships into business.
- You're organized when it counts. Behind your outgoing personality is someone who appreciates budgets, timelines, details, and follow-through.
- You're comfortable being the face of an event. Whether you're welcoming 150 members to a celebration or helping a couple navigate their wedding day, you make people feel confident and comfortable.
- You're calm under pressure. When something unexpected happens, you're already thinking about the solution.
- You take ownership. You care about the details, follow through on commitments, and treat every event as a reflection of your personal standards.
- You're a team player. You understand that exceptional hospitality requires collaboration, mutual respect, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
- You have a sense of humor. We work hard, hold ourselves to high standards, and believe we should enjoy the process along the way.
Most importantly, you understand that hospitality isn't simply a service we provide. It's how we make people feel.
The Experience You'll Bring
- Professional experience in catering sales, event planning, hospitality, or private club operations.
- A track record of developing business, building client relationships, and delivering successful events.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Experience managing event budgets, proposals, contracts, and revenue targets.
- The ability to manage multiple events and priorities without losing sight of the details.
- Confidence working with members, clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Experience in private clubs, luxury hotels, resorts, or upscale event venues is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with event management software, Microsoft Office, and hospitality or club management systems is beneficial.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- A degree in hospitality management or a related field is preferred, but we're equally interested in candidates who have developed their expertise through meaningful hands-on experience.
Compensation & Opportunity
Annual Base Salary: $95,000–$115,000 , depending on experience and qualifications.
This is more than another catering management position.
It's an opportunity to join an established private country club with a passionate leadership team, an engaged membership, and a genuine desire to take our hospitality and social experiences to another level.
You'll have the ability to bring your ideas to the table, help grow a meaningful part of our business, and make a visible impact on the culture of our Club.
We're looking for someone who is excited to take ownership, isn't afraid to try something new, and wants to be part of building something special.
Sound Like You? We'd Love to Hear From You!
If you've read this posting and found yourself thinking, "This sounds exactly like me," then we hope you'll reach out.
We're interested in getting to know the person behind the resume, not just the positions they've held.
Tell us a little about yourself, what excites you about hospitality, and why you think you'd be a great fit for Green Valley.
Because at the end of the day, we're not just looking for someone to plan the next great event. We're looking for someone who can help make Green Valley the place everyone wants to be.
