Reporting to the Chief of Medicine, the Section Chief serves as a key clinical leader within the medical center. Responsibilities Include: Clinical Leadership: Oversee the delivery of comprehensive hematology and oncology services, including outpatient and inpatient care, infusion services, and consultative services. Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the Hematology/Oncology team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Veteran-Centered Care: Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with an emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and the management of hematologic and oncologic disorders. Promote shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve optimal health outcomes. Administrative Duties: Implement and oversee policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care within the Hematology/Oncology Section. Manage the operational aspects of the section, including staffing, budget, and resource allocation. Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and projects. Utilize various quality measurement tools to monitor and improve clinical performance and patient outcomes. Educational and Research Activities: Support and contribute to the educational mission by mentoring and providing guidance to residents, fellows, and medical students.
