Registered Nurse NICU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse - NICU provides specialized nursing care to neonates in a Level II NICU setting, including normal newborns 32 weeks or greater and high-risk deliveries. The role involves attending vaginal and cesarean deliveries, managing respiratory support such as CPAP/BiPAP, and administering feeding via tubes and syringe pumps. The nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive neonatal care and must maintain critical certifications and competencies. Responsibilities:

• Attend vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including high-risk cases.
• Manage respiratory support including CPAP and BiPAP for neonates.
• Administer feeding through feeding tubes and syringe pumps.
• Monitor and assess neonate condition and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
• Maintain required certifications and competencies related to neonatal care.
• Float to other units as needed, providing nursing care in various settings.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including NICU experience.
• Active Registered Nurse license with compact recognition.
• Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Current certification in CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent as required.
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and neonatal feeding techniques.
• Ability to float and provide care in multiple nursing units.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience caring for mother-baby couplets is advantageous.
• Additional neonatal specialty certifications or training.

Special Considerations:

• Must have a minimum 3-month separation from any Providence affiliated facility for travel position eligibility.
• Float pool assignment required as needed.
• Work involves attending all deliveries including high-risk neonatal cases.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments based on unit needs; travel nursing schedule flexibility required.
