This position needs an experienced, skilled engineer in the areas of flight software design. We are looking for a creative Flight Software Engineer to join an exciting and dynamic team in designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting complex flight control software for missile systems.Location: This position does not support teleworking. You will need to live near our Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.What does this role look like?For this role, you will be joining the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Avionics organization committed to developing flight software for the missile system. They will join a team of Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) and software engineers that designs and develops mission critical GNC subsystems for the FBM program. The duties for the position will incorporate all phases of the software development life cycle -- requirements, design, code, test, and maintenance.Key activities you will accomplish in this role:As a Software Engineer for the FBM Reentry Avionics Team, you will:• Develop, Build and Test flight software in C• Create software requirements and ensure documentation and code output fulfills those requirements• Review software data from production tests and assist with troubleshooting (Python, MATLAB, C)• Integrate with project management and systems engineering• Provide technical leadership in software and computer engineeringPlans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.Basic Qualifications• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in computer science, software engineering, electrical/computer engineering or similar with at least 5 yrs experience• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, software development integration and/or testing• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills• Experience with the full software development cycle• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment and to build consensus among peers and effective relationships with team members• Must have active Secret clearance with the ability and desire to obtain a Top Secret clearance which requires US CitizenshipDesired SkillsExperience with embedded, aerospace and/or spacecraft flight software development and releaseAbility to work within multiple programming languages, operating systems, and development environmentsExperience in processor and microprocessor firmware (non-OS based).Experience in processor firmware and software (OS based) - software drivers and firmware wrappers.Understanding of missile or satellite software systems.Excellent interpersonal skills with management and peers.Previous or current Certified Product Engineer (CPE) or equivalent responsible product engineer experienceProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice #LMSpaceSoftwareEngPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
