We are seeking a board certified or board eligible General Surgeon for a short-term locum tenens opportunity in Dothan, Alabama. This assignment offers the flexibility of locum tenens physician work and the chance to support a fast-paced surgical team serving patients who need urgent and inpatient general surgery coverage.

• Position: General Surgery Physician - Locum Tenens
• Location: Dothan, Alabama
• Setting: Hospital-based inpatient consults and emergency room coverage
• Assignment Dates: July 24, 2026 through July 27, 2026
• Coverage Window: 7:00 a.m. CST on 7/24/2026 to 7:00 a.m. CST on 7/27/2026
• Duration: 3 days
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,960 to $7,060
• Facility Context: Busy 200-bed hospital with approximately 20 patient encounters per shift
• Trauma Level: Level III
• Interview Required: No
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30 days

• Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery
• Active physician license and eligibility to practice in the state of Alabama
• At least 1 year of general surgery experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with inpatient consults, emergency room coverage, and rounding on consults
• Comfort performing a broad range of general surgery procedures
• Experience with trauma cases preferred
• Fellowship training preferred

• Provide general surgery coverage for inpatient consults and emergency room needs
• Round on inpatient consults and manage surgical patient care as needed
• Perform required general surgery procedures, including laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty
• Support chest wall and pleural procedures, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and vascular access device procedures
• Deliver high-quality care in a Level III trauma setting
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure efficient, responsive surgical support throughout the coverage period
