UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital is a 204-bed, community hospital serving the Cedar Valley. Allen Hospital is the busiest hospital in the Cedar Valley. We care for more inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients and cardiac patients than any other hospital in our 10-county service area. United Medical Park and Prairie Parkway offer outpatient care in facilities that are built for your comfort and convenience.

• Inpatient/outpatient general surgery

• Ability to specialize in hand surgery, foot and ankle, or adult reconstruction/joints surgeon

• Excellent specialty support including well-established interventional radiology, Urologist, Ob/Gyn, pulmonary critical care, cardiothoracic, cardiology, GI, hospitalist, and neurosurgery

• Strong Primary Care referral base

• 31 bed ED and Level III designated area trauma Center

• Block OR scheduling with add on time and open scheduling available -UPH Allen- 8 General OR and 1 CVOR & UMP-ASC 4 OR and 2 procedure rooms

• State-of-the-art diagnostic and robotics (Da Vinci XI)

• 12 Bed ICU with intensivist

• Award winning heart hospital, primary stroke center, and accredited chest pain center

• Leading edge wound Clinic & hyperbaric center

Responsibilities

• Clinic-based consultations and surgical procedures

• Clinic hours 8AM-5PM

• Office procedures varies per provider

• OR access at UPH Allen hospital and UMP-Ambulatory Surgery Center

• Call 1:5 rotation with group

• Trauma surgery

• Typical General Surgery procedures include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, robotic/minimally invasive hernia repair, gastroesophageal reflux management, colectomy, abdominal surgery, Dialysis Access, Endocrine surgery, and lymphatic system & spleen surgery

Qualifications

• MD or DO

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Surgery

• Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa

• Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physicians field of practice

• Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)

• J-1 waiver sponsorship available
