Pipefitter/Plumber

Amentum is seeking a Pipefitter/Plumber to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The position requires maintaining pipe/steam systems, including installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, expansion joints and steam pressure systems. Secret US Government Clearance is required (US citizenship). Responsibilities Plan piping/tubing system layouts, installations or repairs according to specifications and blueprints. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe/steam systems, units, fittings and related machines using hand and power tools. Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading, and welding. Use tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, benders, and welders. Read drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems; install, repair, and maintain water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, and expansion joints. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, and other methods. Recondition small steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment. Work with other trades to ensure specifications, procedures, and policies are met. Maintain records of time and materials; complete job orders. Follow Task Hazard Analysis (THA’s) and Safety Data Sheet guidelines for hazardous materials. Perform work safely, complying with environmental permits and regulations; maintain a good attendance record. May work overtime, in a demilitarization facility, and perform duties of higher or equal difficulty. Minimum Requirements Minimum age 18 years and high school diploma or equivalent. Four (4) years apprenticeship or one (1) year as a journeyman Pipe Fitter/Plumber. Completion of a certifiable technical or trade school program. Ability to read blueprints and perform shop mathematics. Valid state driver’s license. Computer literacy in common software applications and office equipment. Ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications and a valid Secret clearance. Detail‑oriented, good judgment, and problem‑solving skills. Willingness to work overtime, varying hours, and rotating shifts. Physical fitness to perform essential functions, including HWAD drill, contingency, and emergency requirements. Safety & Eligibility Position is safety sensitive and requires completion of personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening. Must satisfy Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
