The Carmel Police Department is seeking certified law enforcement officers who are ready for their next chapter. What You'll Do

As a Carmel Police Officer, no two shifts look exactly alike. You'll protect and serve the community through proactive policing, emergency response, investigation, enforcement, problem-solving, and community engagement.

Your work may include:

• Responding to calls for service and conducting proactive patrol
• Enforcing criminal laws, traffic laws, and City ordinances
• Investigating crashes, misdemeanors, felonies, and other incidents
• Conducting interviews, collecting evidence, preparing reports, and supporting criminal investigations
• Apprehending and arresting criminal suspects when necessary
• De-escalating volatile situations and assisting individuals experiencing mental or emotional crises
• Responding to medical emergencies, severe weather, major incidents, and other threats to public safety
• Working with prosecutors and providing testimony in court
• Supporting crime prevention efforts and building relationships throughout the community
• Participating in ongoing training and maintaining proficiency with Department equipment, vehicles, firearms, and less-lethal systems

You must also be prepared for the physical realities of police work, including running, lifting, restraining individuals, working outdoors in severe weather, responding to hazardous environments, and performing effectively during high-stress situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidate will:

• Be a certified law enforcement officer
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver's license
• Have Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier 1 certification OR completed POST certified academy from another state with 1 year full-time police experience
• Successfully complete all applicable Carmel Police Department hiring, probationary, and field training requirements
