MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN) will provide exceptional, evidence-based care in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This critical care step-down unit caters to adult, acute care patients who require specialized monitoring and management. The nurse will be responsible for delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients transitioning from various areas, including the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medication and IV therapies, including management of arterial and central lines.
• Perform cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Respond effectively to emergencies, including the use of Rapid Response and Code teams.
• Provide respiratory care, using nasal cannulas, face masks, and non-invasive airway management techniques.
• Implement isolation precautions and adhere to infection control standards.
• Ensure continuous telemetric monitoring for patients, maintaining vigilant oversight of their critical status.
• Demonstrate effective use of EPIC charting for patient documentation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid New York state nursing license.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a MedSurg or PCU setting.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; please include NIHSS in the application.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend: Every other weekend required.
• Travelers are welcome; local candidates must be within a 75-mile radius.
