Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Surgery

• Obtain and record initial assessments, establishing priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement a measurable, individualized plan of care within established Nursing Standards of Care.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on patient outcomes, modifying care plans as needed.
• Participate in health education and discharge planning with patients and their families.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
• Utilize effective communication strategies and delegate work assignments appropriately.
• Promote a positive work environment and contribute to the unit's growth and performance improvements.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Surgery

• Current New Mexico RN license or Compact state license
• BLS Certification from AHA required
• ACLS Certification from AHA required
• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
