Volunteer Coordinator
AmeriCorps
The Volunteer Recruitment and Community Outreach Specialist VISTA will serve with a local CASA program to strengthen its capacity to recruit and engage community volunteers. CASA programs rely on trained volunteers to help ensure that children experiencing abuse, neglect, and foster care involvement have consistent services and connections to resources that promote safety, stability, and permanency. The VISTA will assess local recruitment needs, identify priority audiences and community partners, and develop outreach strategies tailored to the program's service area. Activities will include creating recruitment messages and materials, developing a community partnership database, planning informational events and presentations, establishing tracking tools, and evaluating which outreach methods generate volunteer interest and participation. The member will also create reusable procedures, templates, event plans, communication resources, and implementation guides so the local program can continue recruitment and community engagement efforts after the service term. By increasing the program's ability to recruit qualified volunteers, the project will expand access to CASA services for children in foster care and help reduce their long-term social and economic vulnerability. This is a full-time, year-long capacity-building position. The VISTA will not carry a CASA case, supervise volunteers, or provide direct services to children and families. There are multiple VISTA positions available in Port Allen, Hammond, and DeRidder Louisiana. Member Duties The AmeriCorps VISTA member will assess the local CASA program’s volunteer recruitment and community outreach needs and develop sustainable systems to strengthen both areas. The member will identify priority audiences and potential community partners; create recruitment messages, presentations, social media content, brochures, and outreach materials; and develop a database for tracking contacts, partnerships, inquiries, and recruitment results. The VISTA will develop informational session and presentation materials, volunteer fair planning resources, digital outreach strategies, and partner-based recruitment tools and implementation guides for staff and designated program representatives to use. The member will evaluate which strategies are most effective, revise tools based on results, and create reusable procedures, templates, and training resources so the program can continue the work after the service term.
