Shipping Associate

Location: Peck, MI, US, 48466 Business Unit: Sensor, Test & Calibration

The Shipping Associate verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares and packs items for shipment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assembles orders, checks against shipping or customer order and reports shortages and incomplete orders.
• Selects appropriate shipping containers and packing material.
• Operates standard manual and automatic equipment.
• Stacks shipments on skids and takes shipments to shipping dock.
• Receives and unpacks materials and supplies.
• Checks receipts against purchase order for proper shipment, shortages, damages or defects.
• Expedites material to proper department or storage location.
• Operates crane, hoist or power truck to move materials.
• Adhere to safety and company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

Ability to work overtime when needed with short notice REQUIRED

Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time. Ability to follow workplace safety standards and company policies and procedures. Ability to work in a team setting and contribute to building a positive team spirit. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or general education degree GED.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum one-year previous manufacturing assembly or electronic/technical work experience preferred. Soldering experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents. Must possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English. Have the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, colleagues and members of the business community when required.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Some basic computer skills.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, measurements, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define basic problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts. Work is typically performed at a variety of locations within the department (which includes walking or standing some of the time). Must possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English. Have the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, colleagues and members of the business community when required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include but are not limited to: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. When required, must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs and up to 50 lbs.
