Unified Communications Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Unified Communications Engineer in Castle Rock, CO, 80104 ( on-site for a 3-month contract) with the possibility of conversion for one of our Direct clients. Pay Rate - $60-$65/hr. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Top 3-5 Technical Skills – 5 years of progressive experience in Telecommunications operations, VoIP and voicemail systems administration. Demonstrated success designing, configuring, and supporting Unified Communications infrastructure call center setup, UCCS Scripting Troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose problems in large-scale voice and video implementations. CISCO Solid understanding of modern telecommunications systems and connectivity solutions, including VoIP infrastructure, SIP trunking, broadband and fiber-based services, and contemporary network transport technologies. Strong communication skills at all levels, verbal and written Ability to make time-critical decisions regarding data and voice systems situations. Ability to rate priorities during busy periods with multiple failures. About the Role The Senior Unified Communications Engineer maintains, configures, and supports the Unified Communications environment, including system design, roadmap development, project implementation, upgrades, and hardware/software installation. The engineer also evaluates and documents communication and collaboration architectures and solutions—such as phone systems, circuits, VoIP, cloud services, and related connectivity and integrations—to meet business needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure successful delivery to support strategic planning and initiatives and improve organizational performance aligned with company goals. Work with County users, vendors, carriers, and technical staff on the implementation, optimization, and security of the Unified Communications environment. Troubleshoot core infrastructure and communication services including call control systems, Contact Center and messaging platforms, collaboration tools, voice and video services, gateways, and other Unified Communications applications. Perform maintenance and upgrades on Unified Communications infrastructure and endpoints. Utilize LAN/WAN proficiencies to ensure optimal configuration and operation of integrated systems. Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with business, clinical, and operations leaders, providing guidance on Unified Communications and Contact Center tools. Build solutions and implementation plans using appropriate resources while ensuring stakeholder involvement and communication. Conduct security reviews of Unified Communications infrastructure and applications. Maintain industry knowledge of telecom technologies and phone services. Research, analyze, recommend, and implement new tools, systems, and processes to enhance collaboration. Lead development and delivery of training related to area of expertise. Monitor market trends to identify opportunities to improve customer experience and reduce operating costs. Maintain project and technology documentation to ensure accurate and accessible information. Manage system logging and provide performance metrics. Develop runbook procedures and support documentation for maintenance activities. Maintain inventory of telecom circuits and devices. Perform telephone and voicemail moves, adds, and changes; train IT staff on related procedures. Provide advanced expertise in Unified Communications. Other Duties Assist with wiring and cabling management programs. Support material and labor requirements for expansion, relocation, and special events. Perform special projects and other assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, vocational/technical training, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum five years of progressive experience in Telecommunications operations, VoIP, and voicemail systems administration. Combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge: Experience designing, configuring, and supporting Unified Communications infrastructure. Experience troubleshooting large-scale voice and video systems. Ability to translate business needs into operational requirements. Ability to manage multiple projects. Experience mentoring others in Unified Communications technologies. Understanding of telecommunications systems including VoIP, SIP trunking, broadband, fiber services, and network transport technologies. Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents and diagrams. Effective communication with management, users, and technical staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships. Abilities: Ability to define problems, analyze data, and develop technical solutions. Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and abstract concepts. Ability to make time-critical decisions and prioritize during system failures.
