Nursing Assistant

Position: Nursing Assistant (Part-Time, 0.6 FTE) at Summit Orthopedics – Eagan Surgery Center Schedule: 12 hour weekday shifts, 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Flexibility to float to other Summit locations as needed. Job Summary: As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct hands‑on care and perform delegated nursing tasks under the supervision of RN staff, supporting perioperative, pre‑ and post‑operative nursing teams. Duties include patient transfers, assistance with nursing procedures, inventory management, and maintenance of a safe, clean environment. Key Responsibilities Transfer discharged patients weighing up to 200 lbs to transportation, using wheelchair or other modal means. Assist with safe transfer of patients from cart to chair and from chair to wheelchair. Assist RN in recovery of pediatric patients. Restock, label, and maintain inventory; submit requisitions and distribute instruments, trays, crash carts, and medical equipment. Perform environmental maintenance and assist in maintaining inventory levels. Respond to professional staff assistance requests at the level of competence obtained. Verify equipment functionality; requisition repairs or replacements for surgical instrumentation. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Dispose of filled suction containers and empty full linen hampers. Document maintenance activities when required. Assist with maintaining established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality standards. Qualifications Education: High School graduate (required). Experience: Previous Nursing Assistant experience preferred. Licenses & Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (required); Basic Life Support (required). Skills: Basic Life Support (required). Compensation & Benefits Salary: $18.77 to $23.46 per hour. Opportunity for bonuses, differentials, and deferred compensation.
