Native American Programs Specialist Location: Remote, State of Oklahoma Job ID: 5687173 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 01, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Jul 7, 2026 Job Description Job Title: Native American Programs Specialist Department: Student Engagement Reports To: Managing Director of Student Engagement Programs Compensation Range: $52,000 Classification: Non - Classified Summary: The Native American Programs Specialist supports the academic and cultural success of Native American students at Epic Charter Schools. This position works under the direction of the Native American Programs Director and follows established protocols to provide culturally responsive academic support, coordinate programming, support student engagement, and assist with program services. The Specialist helps students stay connected to their learning goals by providing academic support, monitoring progress, encouraging engagement, and assisting with intervention efforts as needed. This position also serves as a liaison between students, families, tribal communities, school staff, and community partners to help students access available academic, cultural, and program resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Be familiar with Title VI Indian Education. Assist in implementing academic and cultural support services in coordination with the Native American Programs team. Provide academic support to students through individual or group support opportunities as directed. Identify students who may benefit from additional academic support and refer or assist in developing intervention plans as directed. Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support student learning goals, academic progress, and engagement. Communicate with families about academic standing, cultural programming, and available services under the guidance of program leadership. Assist in reviewing curriculum materials to ensure accurate representation of Native American content in collaboration with relevant departments. Support and maintain relationships with tribal education departments and community organizations. Assist with planning and executing cultural workshops, student events, academic enrichment, and engagement activities. Refer students to appropriate services and resources and follow up in accordance with department procedures. Serve as a communication link between families, tribal education contacts, and school personnel on attendance, grades, engagement, and student support needs. Draft and distribute monthly newsletters, outreach materials, and program communications as directed. Support Native American student organizations and help facilitate meetings, events, and leadership activities. Collect and report data related to student engagement, academic progress, services provided, and program participation under supervision. Attend departmental meetings, training, professional development opportunities, and community events as assigned by program leadership. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and teacher certification preferred. Experience with Title VI/JOM programs. Qualifications Can establish and maintain connections with tribal education and Native community leaders to stay current with tribal benefits regarding student resources, academic incentives, clothing resources, and cultural activities and events. Able to support students across grade levels and subject areas by providing light tutoring, homework help, academic check‑ins, and guidance aligned to course expectations and state standards. Proficient in understanding the process of using tribal/national resources to apply for services and programs. Remain updated with changes regarding family and student benefits available to citizens and those residing in tribal districts. Has a clear understanding of the impact of a student's status regarding Homelessness and Disability when applying for additional support. Demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to mentor various personalities and working styles. Have an eagerness to learn and a growth mindset while holding exceptionally high standards for the quality of work and a reflex to improve at every turn. Have well‑developed emotional intelligence and moral character. Have problem‑solving and clear communication skills. Language Skills Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Must be able to explain academic support plans, cultural programming, and school processes clearly, both verbally and in writing. Able to write reports, newsletters, and correspondence that are culturally responsive and appropriate for diverse audiences. Comfortable facilitating meetings and presenting information to small and large groups, including students, families, school staff, and tribal representatives. Mathematical Skills Basic math skills required. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Computer Skills Knowledge of Google applications, Canva, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current driver’s license and valid car insurance. Valid Oklahoma certifications are preferred. Other Qualifications Must be able to pass a state‑mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made. Must have favorable employment references. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who are members of a federally recognized tribe or who have demonstrated experience working with Native American communities, in alignment with the goals of the Title VI Native American Education Grant.
