Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a PRN Float Oncology Clinic and Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will support the Webster Market. It is Monday‑Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no call. The role can be Level I, II or Senior based on relevant candidate experience. Floating from the home site as needed to cover the Webster Market for infusion and clinic, including Webster, Houston Southeast and Pearland. Awards are discretionary, reviewed annually, and subject to continued employment. What does the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care, adhering to national and company standards. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, developmental and age‑specific differences in patient populations. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs and supports the U.S. Oncology Compliance Program. Responsibilities Oncology Clinic RN Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards. Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care. Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart. Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart. Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care. Assist patients in locating available community resources. Interprofessional collaboration. Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Infusion Clinic RN Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material. Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management. Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices. Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Qualifications Education/Training Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred). RN state license and current registration with the state board of nursing in the practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Level I 0‑3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred. Level II Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred. Level Senior Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred. Oncology certification preferred.
