Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities by preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and patient advocacy. The RN or GN complies with all standards of practice, professional development, and the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights, fostering a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Intensive Care Unit, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Primary Work Shift: Night Weekly Hours: 36 Compensation Range: $40.52 - $57.48 per hour, depending on experience Sign-on Incentive: Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000. Job Responsibilities Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, acting as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact. Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy. Shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies. Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices. Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completes all mandatory education requirements. Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. Education & Experience Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. License & Certification Minimum Required: Current NYS RN License or Valid NYS Limited Permit to practice as a GN. Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty. Relevant skills certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
