Steel Slitter Operator – 4x10 Schedule

Butler, IN

$20–$28/hour based on experience

1st and 2nd Shift Opportunities

Perfect Placement Group is recruiting for an established, family-owned steel processing manufacturer in Butler, Indiana. We are looking for an experienced Slitter Operator who understands industrial production, takes pride in running equipment correctly, and wants a stable long-term opportunity with a consistent schedule.

This is a direct-hire position , not a temporary assignment.

Schedule

1st Shift

Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

Friday: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM as production requires

2nd Shift

Monday–Thursday: 4:30 PM–3:00 AM

Friday: 4:30 PM–1:00 AM as production requires

Second shift includes a $1/hour shift differential .

The core production schedule is four 10-hour days. Friday overtime may be required during periods of higher demand, so candidates should be comfortable with that expectation before applying.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work as part of a steel-processing line crew responsible for preparing and processing coiled steel through a slitting line.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing equipment and safety checks before production
• Setting up and operating steel slitting equipment
• Reading work instructions and production specifications
• Monitoring cutting speed, tension, blade alignment, and product quality
• Using hydraulic controls and machine settings
• Identifying equipment or quality issues before they become larger problems
• Working closely with setup personnel, helpers, and other production employees
• Maintaining a safe and organized work area

What We’re Looking For

We are especially interested in candidates with:

• Previous steel slitting, cut-to-length, coil processing, or similar machine-operation experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read measurements, specifications, and production instructions
• Basic computer comfort
• Strong attention to detail
• Good safety habits
• Reliable work history
• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team

Candidates should be prepared to discuss the actual equipment they have operated, material handled, crane or material-handling exposure, and the responsibilities they personally owned.

What the Work Environment Is Really Like

This is an active steel-processing facility. Candidates should be prepared for:

• Working on their feet for much of a 10-hour shift
• Concrete production floors
• Industrial noise around operating equipment
• Required safety-toe footwear and other PPE
• Working around large steel coils and heavy industrial machinery
