Job Summary
- Obtains blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
- Obtains specimens (on or off site) requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
- Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
- Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
- Provides assistance to clients. Picks up and delivers specimens / reports to clients (may use company car) and acts as liaison between the client and the laboratory.
- Assists with vehicle maintenance and promotes safe driving.
- Diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures.
- Performs testing procedures as indicated by section.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
- 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
- $16.07-$26.25/hr depending on previous work experience
- Position qualifies for $1.75/hr night shift differential
