Duties:
Our organization is in search of a part-time Otolaryngologist to join the Surgical Services Department, reporting directly to the Chief of Surgery. The Otolaryngologist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive Otolaryngology services within the VA system, adhering to their clinical privileges, and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record. This role requires independent practice, utilizing professional judgment and expertise. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering a complete spectrum of medical, procedural, and surgical care in general Otolaryngology for adult patients.

• Conducting thorough reviews of medical histories and performing detailed physical examinations.

• Interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic results.

• Diagnosing Otolaryngology-related conditions and assisting with or performing procedures in both operating room and clinical settings.

• Evaluating and treating diseases affecting the Ear, Nose, and Throat, as well as surgical conditions.

• Carrying out screening examinations and completing history and physicals (H&P) and progress notes.

• Executing basic diagnostic procedures.

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the patient care processes within the Department of Veterans Affairs and familiarity with the medical center's records system (CPRS).

• Utilizing computerized medical records efficiently and promptly.

• Continuously honing skills across all areas of practice, including outpatient clinics.

• Demonstrating sensitivity when interacting with patients and their families.

• Facilitating effective communication between physicians and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient transfers.

• Participating in mandatory meetings and any additional meetings or focus groups as assigned.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position, with the specific hours to be determined collaboratively between the Physician and their Supervisor.

Compensation: Salary will be prorated based on part-time status.

Paid Time Off:

• Accrued paid annual leave based on hours worked, starting from the first day of employment.

Contractual Terms: There is no Physician Employment Contract, and there are no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: May be available.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): This position qualifies for the EDRP, which offers student loan repayment assistance. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of starting. Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) will be determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough review of the application.
