Dietitian

Position Information UC Riverside's Dining Services is recruiting for a Dietitian. The full salary range for the Dietitian is $57,700 - $99,300 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $78,500 annually. Salary offers are determined by education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Job Responsibilities Develop balanced, inclusive, and allergen‑conscious menus. Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal nutrition standards. Lead initiatives that promote healthy eating habits within the campus community. Oversee nutrition labeling and communication efforts. Support ongoing training of dining staff on nutrition‑related topics. Conduct regular audits of dining facilities for compliance and quality assurance. Offer one‑on‑one consultations for students with special dietary needs, including food allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, and religious or lifestyle‑based dietary preferences. Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Advanced degree in a related field. Preferred: Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. Experience Requirements Experience with individualized nutrition counseling. Experience with menu planning and ensuring compliance with dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, cultural needs, age groups). Experience with nutritional analysis. 4–7 years of related experience. Prior experience in culinary food service operations. Experience with tools for data tracking, reporting, and health assessments. Experience in organizing events, training staff, or managing nutrition‑related projects. Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition programs. Experience creating meal plans. Experience coordinating with staff, volunteers, vendors, and healthcare professionals. Experience working within the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge of food and production. Excellent communication in English, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, and multi‑tasking skills. Strong decision‑making and reasoning skills, with the ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to guide personnel at all levels. Intermediate computer applications skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse, multicultural populations. Skills to interpret trends, define problems, conceptualize solutions, and convert complex medical, nutrition, and health information into practical applications. Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness, and use of original ideas in the performance of duties. Preferred Qualifications Strong priority‑setting and project‑completion skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated skills in developing and executing nutrition, food service, and health educational programs, including one‑to‑one counseling and public speaking. Knowledge of emerging methods of health promotion, education, behavior change, and assessment. Knowledge of higher‑education dining services. Basic knowledge of menu management systems. Ability to monitor nutrition outcomes, evaluate program success, and adjust strategies accordingly.
