Company Description F.A.I.R Counseling (formerly Families and Adolescents in Recovery, Inc.) is a neuroscience-based therapy practice that uses evidence-based treatment interventions to support clients ages 11 and up. The practice provides individual, family, couples, and group counseling, including specialized Christian counseling delivered by clinicians with training in both divinity studies and counseling. F.A.I.R Counseling integrates neurocounseling approaches, combining brain physiology knowledge with traditional counseling modalities to enhance treatment outcomes. Counselors are in-network with major insurance providers such as BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UBH, and Magellan, and services are available in English and Polish. Role Description The Mental Health Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Schaumburg, IL. This position involves providing individual, family, and group counseling to clients ages 11 and up, using evidence-based and neurocounseling approaches that align with the practice’s treatment philosophy. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, coordinating case management activities, and maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation. The counselor will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, communicate with families and external providers as needed, and participate in regular clinical consultations and training. Depending on credentials and interest, the counselor may also provide Christian counseling within their scope of practice. Qualifications Clinical assessment and treatment planning skills, including the ability to develop, implement, and revise individualized care plans. Strong foundation in mental health and psychology, with experience in evidence-based interventions and neurocounseling or willingness to be trained in these approaches. Competence in relationship counseling, including work with couples and families, and skill in facilitating healthy communication and conflict resolution. Case management skills, including coordination of care with families, schools, medical providers, and insurance companies. Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field; appropriate state licensure or license-eligible status (e.g., LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, LPC). Strong verbal and written communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to work effectively with adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds. Comfort with maintaining clinical documentation in electronic health record systems and adherence to ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards.
