Senior Forward Deployment Engineer

As a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you’ll work directly with enterprise customers on high-impact projects that leverage Generative AI, LLMs, and modern application development. You’ll be hands-on in helping organizations migrate legacy databases, modernize their architecture, and integrate AI-driven functionality into their applications. You’ll not only solve challenging, real-world engineering problems, but also influence MongoDB’s AI strategy and product direction.This role will be based remotely anywhere within the U.S. or any MongoDB North America office, including Seattle, Denver, Raleigh, San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York, DC, etc.What You’ll DoWork with enterprise customers to refactor applications, migrate legacy databases, and optimize performance using MongoDBPrototype and build AI-powered features, leveraging LLMs and Generative AI frameworks to improve software development workflows and application functionalityApply modern software engineering practices to accelerate customers’ AI adoption, helping them implement microservices-based architectures, intelligent automation, and AI-enhanced applicationsInfluence MongoDB’s AI and software development roadmap by sharing insights from real-world implementations and customer needsCollaborate across engineering, product, and customer teams to create scalable, resilient software solutionsWhat We’re Looking For8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering impactful technical solutions for enterprise clients, preferably using Java, SQL, and PythonAn engineering degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Network Engineering, or Electrical EngineeringIn-depth knowledge of AI/ML concepts, tools, and open-source development; experience designing and implementing AI-powered applications is highly preferredProficient in test-driven development methodologies and familiar with monolithic vs. microservices architectures, including database migration and refactoringStrong problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex, “un-Googleable” challenges while driving innovation through software developmentPreferred qualifications: Academic research experience in parsing, AI/ML, or programming languagesAbout MongoDBMongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market.
