Night shift is different. The pace changes. The team gets tighter. And when a patient suddenly needs respiratory support, your experience matters immediately.

A community-based acute care hospital in western North Carolina is adding Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) to its night team. There are currently three openings for therapists who are comfortable working across routine respiratory care, urgent situations, and hospital emergencies.

If you prefer nights and want a role where you'll use your clinical judgment rather than simply move from treatment to treatment, this deserves a closer look.

When the Hospital Needs Respiratory, You're There

You'll work with patients who have a wide range of respiratory needs, from scheduled therapies and diagnostic testing to rapidly changing clinical situations.

You'll assess how patients are responding to treatment, recognize when something isn't right, and communicate with the broader clinical team when intervention is needed.

When a code or emergent call comes in, you'll be part of the response.

Your clinical work will include:

• Delivering prescribed respiratory therapies and monitoring patient response
• Assessing patients during changes in respiratory status
• Responding to codes and emergent calls
• Performing and analyzing blood gas testing
• Measuring lung capacity and supporting pulmonary diagnostic testing
• Performing EKGs as ordered
• Educating patients and families about respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment
• Providing tobacco-cessation education when appropriate
• Maintaining respiratory equipment so it's ready when patients need it
• Supporting respiratory care quality and performance-improvement initiatives

The Credentials We Need

This search is for a Registered Respiratory Therapist who can step into an acute care environment with the education, licensing, and certifications required for the position.

You'll need:

• An Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure in North Carolina
• BCLS/BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP

You'll also need to be comfortable working a dedicated night schedule.

Some respiratory therapists simply prefer nights.

There are fewer layers between identifying a problem and responding to it. Collaboration matters. Clinical judgment matters. And respiratory therapists can play a particularly important role when patient conditions change unexpectedly.

The Numbers

Base salary: $58,177$78,520

Compensation within the range is based on experience and qualifications.

The position also currently offers a:

$7,500 sign-on bonus
