About the role

As a Technical Operator you will be responsible for maintaining, operating and improving equipment to meet key operational targets in safety, quality, productivity, cost and delivery. For this role, solid engineering knowledge (typically apprenticeship-trained) will help you to work within an autonomous team where you will follow production standards, focus on continuous improvement and demonstrate strong analytical and coaching skills. Acting as an owner of a packing line, you will often lead a small team of 3–5 operators to drive KPI delivery and optimize line efficiency.

Your responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair and improve lines to deliver the production plan at maximum efficiency and quality.

• Lead daily performance reviews and ensure timely corrective actions, ensuring that all team members are fully trained to required standards.

• Coordinate operator activities to optimise skills and resources.

• Plan, resource and continuously improve changeovers to minimise waste and meet area targets.

• Drive ongoing improvement of team performance and equipment reliability.

• Plan and lead maintenance tasks ensuring repair activities are logged in CMMS and completion of autonomous and planned maintenance is actioned.

• Lead breakdown response and coordinate engineering activities.

• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative actions.

• Escalate line stoppages or prolonged breakdowns according to timelines.

The experience we're looking for

• Experience with high‑speed packaging lines in FMCG, food, chemical, or pharmaceutical environments is required

• Time‑served engineer with mechanical and/or electrical training with strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills

• Strong knowledge of engineering practices, GMP, and KPI‑driven operations

• Ability to balance operational responsibilities with performance optimization

• Drives continuous improvement using CI tools and problem‑solving approach
