Patient Account Specialist Senior

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform medical collection activities for patient accounts and insurance balances
• Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients, payers, and external agencies professionally
• Review, research, and resolve account discrepancies, underpayments, and overpayments
• Maintain accurate documentation and updates in collection systems
• Work on insurance collections, ensuring timely follow-up with third-party payers
• Assist patients with payment arrangements and financial assistance options
• Ensure compliance with state and federal collection regulations
• Meet daily productivity and quality standards for account resolution
• Utilize systems such as Meditech and CollectLogix for account management
• Coordinate with internal departments for appeals and claim-related issues
• Monitor and report trends in billing or claim processing errors
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining collection effectiveness
• Participate in team discussions and contribute to process improvements

Skills:

• 3–5 years of experience in healthcare billing, medical collections, or revenue cycle management
• Experience in hospital AR, insurance collections, or collection agency environment
• Strong knowledge of medical billing and claims processing workflows
• Experience with Meditech and/or CollectLogix preferred
• Strong customer service and call center experience
• Knowledge of insurance payer requirements and collection regulations
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage high-volume accounts and meet productivity targets

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; college education or relevant healthcare billing experience acceptable in lieu of formal requirements
