Physician Assistant - Neonatology locum tenens opportunity in Oakland, CA, for experienced NICU providers seeking a high-acuity hospital role in the Bay Area. Join a collaborative neonatal care team and support newborns and infants in a fast-paced Level IV NICU.

Job Details

• Location: Oakland, California
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Start Date: 10/19/2026
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based Neonatology / NICU
• Patient Population: Newborns and infants from birth to 1 year old
• EMR: EPIC
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,040 - $5,400

Job Requirements

• 2-3 years of neonatal experience in a Level III or IV NICU preferred
• Active California license required
• Neonatal board certification required
• DEA with California address and Schedule 2/2N coverage required
• BLS and NRP certifications required; all certifications must be AHA
• If applying as a Physician Assistant, a master's degree in PA Studies or Medical Science is required
• Must be enrolled in CMS Medicare and Medicaid by the first clinical day
• COVID-19 vaccination with booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced NICU environment

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU
• Support safe inpatient care delivery as part of a multidisciplinary neonatal team
• Assess, monitor, and manage neonates with complex and life-threatening conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and advanced practice providers to coordinate patient care
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively with the care team
• Contribute to quality care, workflow efficiency, and productivity expectations within the unit
• Assist with the care of infants with cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and other high-acuity needs
