Construction Safety Specialist

This position is open to local candidates only. Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Marietta, PA. Relocation, travel, and per diem are not available for this opportunity.

As the on-site Construction Safety Specialist, you'll work alongside General Contractors, subcontractors, and project leadership to promote a safe, compliant, and productive construction environment.

Responsibilities include serving as the on-site safety resource for project leadership, contractors, and subcontractors; conducting daily jobsite inspections, safety audits, and field observations; identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, and verifying timely resolution; promoting a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement; leading and supporting Pre-Task Planning (PTPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), permit programs, and incident investigations; facilitating new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training; ensuring compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and project-specific safety requirements; supporting high-risk work activities, including electrical safety, fall protection, confined space entry, crane operations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and hot work; maintaining safety reports, inspections, incident documentation, and project safety metrics; and partnering with project leadership to drive continuous improvement and strengthen the site's safety culture.

Required qualifications include minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably supporting General Contractors or large commercial construction projects; strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards; experience working in fast-paced construction environments; excellent hazard recognition, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems.

Preferred qualifications include pharmaceutical construction or life sciences construction experience; OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (completed within the past five years); current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications; BCSP certifications such as CHST, STS-C, ASP, or CSP; OSHA 510/500, NFPA 70E, or other construction safety certifications; and a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.

This is a field-based position requiring daily oversight of active construction operations. Responsibilities include standing and walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, navigating uneven terrain, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in varying weather conditions. Additional requirements include the ability to work overtime and flexible schedules based on project needs; reliable transportation; and must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Marietta, PA.
